On 24 June, over 70 guests met at the Phoenix Hotel for the association’s Annual Dinner. The welcome drinks by the fire and tuneful guitarist made up for the cold outside. As always, it was a great opportunity to catch up with old friends and meet and make new friends, as the noise levels indicated! The dinner was Greek-themed with a charcuterie board starter and slow cooked lamb and vegetables for main, all accompanied by the Phoenix’s fine wines.

A big thanks to Jim’s Cellars, who provided the Lucky Door prizes and to all the local businesses and individuals who donated Raffle Prizes: Mary Read for a very fashionable raincoat, Boyac for two beautiful cushions, Parliamentary wine donated by our local State member, Kellie Sloane, and wine donated by the Phoenix Hotel. Cooper Ward Councillors Sarah Swan and Nicola Grieve were able to join us later in the evening and immediately put their powers of persuasion to good use selling a large number of raffle tickets, adding to the success of the evening. Many thanks to Will Cooney, the Phoenix’s proprietor, for all his hard work, to Summers Floral for the beautiful decorations and to Mary Read for the photographs. Finally, a big thanks to Susie Willmott and the committee members who organised the evening so well.
