The Theatre of Retail - QSWWA Business Networking evening (23 Jun 2026)

All local businesses and staff are invited to the second QSWWA Business Networking Evening on Tuesday 23 June, 6.00-7.30pm, upstairs in The Queen’s Lounge, The Woollahra Hotel where Richard Haigh will let us in on his secrets about "The Theatre of Retail" based on his 40 years experience with Parterre and Woollahra (see further details below).

This is a free event for businesses kindly sponsored by Woollahra Council to encourage local businesses to get together, learn from and support each other. The QSWWA will provide a welcoming drink and finger food. The format will be 6.00-6.30pm networking; 6.30-7.00pm talk by Richard Haigh; 7.00-7.30pm networking.

To help to know numbers to cater for, it would be great if you could let us know how many from your business we should expect by registering using the button below (as mentioned above, it’s free).

Giles Edmonds, President, QSWWA

"The Theatre of Retail"

Richard Haigh is the visionary owner of Parterre — Sydney's renowned European antiques and lifestyle destination in the heart of Woollahra. Drawing on over four decades of curating immersive retail experiences, Richard explores the philosophy that a truly great shop is far more than a place to buy things; it is a stage, a world unto itself, where every detail — from the scent in the air to the uneven stone underfoot — plays a role in transporting the customer somewhere extraordinary. Through the lens of Parterre's evolution from a treasure trove of hand-picked French and Belgian antiques into a full sensory destination complete with a walled courtyard café and a Belgian glasshouse, Richard shares the insights, instincts, and creative decisions that have kept customers coming back for generations. He reflects on what it means to merchandise with soul, to source with passion, and to design spaces that feel alive and ever-changing — because in the theatre of retail, the show must always be worth watching.
